How many times have you thought ‘That person should be rewarded for that’? They might have performed a selfless act, achieved recognition in a particular area or just helped out a neighbour. You just sometimes wish that an unsung hero could be recognised for their achievements. Well that’s what the ‘Citizen of Southend’ is all about. This award scheme gives you the chance to nominate someone who lives, works and contributes to the community in the Southend Borough who you think should receive the ‘Citizen of Southend’ title.

 

As well as the prestigious title, winner of the ‘Gold’ award will be presented with a personalised trophy and a £500 Cash prize. Winner of the ‘Silver’ award will also receive a trophy and a £300 cash prize. The ‘Bronze’ winner will receive a trophy and £100.

 

The awards will be presented at a special ceremony in the autumn.

Three awards will be presented: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

 

Candidates can be nominated by this online application form detailing why they deserve the Award.

The Nominees achievement can be based on

several criteria such as:

Demonstrating Courage and Bravery.

Contributions to the Community.

Setting up or leading projects that benefit the Community.

Helping or caring for Disadvantaged.

Outstanding Individual Achievement in a particular field such as:

     

 

Promoting equality and eliminating discrimination bringing noticeable benefits to the Community of Southend.

 

It’s a ‘people’s award’ for the people, so please take time to nominate the person or group you believe deserves it, tell us why... And they could be the winner!

 

The closing date for nominations is 30th June 2011.
